Billionaire entrepreneur Peter Thiel has confirmed that he still holds Bitcoin (BTC) and continues to support the leading cryptocurrency. However, Thiel has expressed caution about the potential for dramatic price increases in the future. During an interview at the Aspen Ideas Festival in Colorado, Thiel stated that he still holds some Bitcoin, although he did not acquire as much as he would have liked. He believes that it is unlikely for the value of Bitcoin to significantly rise from its current levels. This perspective differs from the more bullish predictions that have been made about Bitcoin’s future. Thiel’s venture capital firm, Founders Fund, made headlines earlier this year when it invested $200 million in Bitcoin and Ethereum, with $100 million allocated to each cryptocurrency. The fund purchased Bitcoin when prices were around $30,000 in the summer of 2023. This move came after the fund had reportedly sold all of its Bitcoin holdings in 2014, prior to the bear market crash of 2022. Despite recent volatility, Bitcoin’s price has increased by 100% in the past year and is currently trading around $60,800.
