Roblox a proponent of the Metaverse purportedly requesting employees to come back to the office

One of the enthusiastic supporters of the metaverse is now urging employees to return to the physical office.
Roblox seems to be transitioning from a fully remote working setup to a combination of in-office and remote work, with reports indicating that the company’s CEO, David Baszucki, is encouraging employees to start working from the office in San Mateo by the summer of 2024.
According to a report by The Verge, Baszucki communicated in a company memo that Roblox will soon implement a new work model where employees will be required to work three days in the office – from Tuesday to Thursday. The CEO explained in the memo that virtual work environments are currently not as engaging and productive as physical ones.
Employees have until January 16, 2024, to decide if they want to continue working at Roblox under the new regulations. Baszucki mentioned that not all employees will be mandated to return to the office, indicating that jobs that can be done remotely will not be affected by the change.
At the time of writing, Roblox has not made any public statements regarding this shift in policy. Crypto.news has reached out to Roblox for a comment and will update the article accordingly.
This change in direction by Roblox appears to contradict its previous stance on remote work. Over the years, Roblox has heavily promoted the concept of the metaverse in its communications, using the term numerous times to showcase its initiatives.
