An address belonging to an early Bitcoin miner from the “Satoshi era” has recently become active after being dormant for 14 years. The miner moved 50 BTC, which is worth around $3.05 million, to Binance on June 27th. The address, 1PDTD…m3Jcm, obtained the 50 BTC in July 2010, just a few months after the Bitcoin network was launched. The term “Satoshi era” refers to addresses that were active during the early days of the Bitcoin network, specifically from 2009 when Satoshi Nakamoto created the first cryptocurrency until around 2011 when he disappeared. This is not the first time that old Bitcoin wallets have become active again, with several addresses from the “Satoshi era” showing activity since early 2023. In March 2024, another long-inactive miner transferred funds after 14 years, with part of the transaction ending up at the crypto exchange Coinbase.
