PancakeSwap’s New Cross-Chain Swap Feature
PancakeSwap has introduced a new cross-chain swap feature that allows users to exchange tokens instantly. Powered by Across, this update removes technical hurdles on the platform to simplify the trading process.
Seamless Token Swapping
Users can now swap tokens between BNB Chain (BNB), Arbitrum (ARB), and Base (BASE) directly through the PancakeSwap interface, completing the process in a single transaction.
How to Use the Crosschain Swap Feature
To utilize the new Crosschain Swap feature, users can visit the PancakeSwap Swap page, select a token and destination chain, and confirm the transaction. The interface tracks all transaction history in one place for user convenience.
Eliminating the Need for Bridges
This update enables users to swap between tokens without the necessity of using bridges, external applications, or complex tools. If a token has liquidity on the platform, it is eligible for swapping across chains directly from the main interface.
Addressing Interoperability Challenges
Powered by Across’ intent-based bridging system, which is based on the open ERC-7683 intents standard, the update is designed to tackle one of the most significant challenges currently facing the DeFi space: interoperability.
Bridging Volume and Security
Across currently accounts for approximately 20% of the bridging volume across supported chains, with over $23 billion in transfers and more than 16 million transactions completed. It utilizes a network of relayers and UMA’s optimistic oracle to ensure fast, secure, and cost-efficient transactions.
Challenges of Isolated Chains
As each chain remains isolated from one another, liquidity is restricted, and transferring assets often requires navigating various tools and platforms. These challenges lead to slower transactions, increased costs, and additional risks.
Quotes from PancakeSwap and Across
“We’re solving a major DeFi pain point by giving users the freedom to move across chains with just one click – no bridges, no delays,” said Chef Kids, Head Chef at PancakeSwap.
Hart Lambur, co-founder of Across, stated that the protocol’s intent-based infrastructure allows users to bypass bridges entirely. They can interact with the platform as they normally would without considering the technical constraints.
“PancakeSwap has one of the most intuitive interfaces in DeFi. With intents-based infrastructure, users don’t even have to think about bridging—it just works,” Lambur remarked.
