In a bid to spark renewed interest in the virtual realm, The Sandbox metaverse is unveiling a fresh virtual community known as Cinerama.
Cinerama offers users the opportunity to acquire and transform their digital properties into spaces for collaboration, idea-sharing, and the creation of immersive, interactive movie experiences.
With more than 400 digital plots up for grabs in Cinerama, The Sandbox has already sold 70% of its over 165,000 LAND NFTs.
This new zone will feature iconic American films like The Walking Dead, Black Mirror, Peaky Blinders, and Cheech and Chong. The Sandbox has also teamed up with renowned production companies such as Skydance, known for Top Gun and Terminator, as well as Lionsgate.
Despite the launch of Cinerama, The Sandbox’s native token, SAND, saw minimal movement in response to the news. In the past 24 hours, the token saw a modest 0.93% increase to $0.417 at the time of writing. However, trading volumes surged by 125.49% to $224 million in the same period.
In September, the Binance NFT Marketplace ceased supporting non-fungible tokens on the Polygon network and halted the staking of The Sandbox. Users were instructed to withdraw their assets accordingly.
As of Sept. 26, users were unable to bid on LAND NFTs on Polygon to earn rewards, and they can no longer buy or list Polygon NFTs on the platform. Any affected listings will be canceled, and assets will be returned to users’ accounts.
