Emin Gün Sirer, the leader of Ava Labs, refutes the notion that Avalanche was created to be an Ethereum rival, pointing out its unique ability to deploy independent blockchains, a feature Ethereum lacks. He revealed that the idea of Avalanche being an “Ethereum killer” was a marketing strategy by Consensys, a blockchain company founded by Joseph Lubin, a co-founder of Ethereum. Sirer clarified this misconception at the Token2049 conference, stating that Avalanche has always been intended to work alongside Ethereum.
Sirer highlighted Avalanche’s strength in deploying separate blockchains with different rules, a capability he believes Ethereum lacks. He emphasized that Avalanche’s consensus protocols are faster and superior to Ethereum’s, positioning Avalanche in a league of its own in terms of speed and efficiency.
The focus of Avalanche, according to Sirer, is to push the boundaries of blockchain technology by introducing new tokens and assets into the market. He reiterated Avalanche’s commitment to innovation and progression in the blockchain space.
In response to allegations made by Crypto Leaks in August 2022, claiming that Ava Labs paid Freedman Roche in tokens and equity to file class-action lawsuits against competitors, Sirer dismissed the claims as baseless conspiracy theories. He firmly stated that Ava Labs would never engage in unethical or illegal activities as suggested in the allegations.
Avalanche Foundation’s latest initiative, Memecoin Rush, will exclusively support meme coins on its platform, reinforcing the criteria for projects on the Avalanche blockchain. This move aligns with Avalanche’s strategy to promote innovation and diversity within the blockchain ecosystem.
