Yuga Labs, the masterminds behind the renowned non-fungible token (NFT) series known as the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), have revealed that the second trial run of their cutting-edge Otherside metaverse will kick off on March 25, with the specific time yet to be disclosed.
In an exciting development, Yuga Labs, fresh off the successful auction of their innovative bitcoin-fueled TwelveFold NFTs, has confirmed that holders of Otherdeed NFTs and users of the Otherside platform (referred to as voyagers) will be treated to an engaging gaming experience within the metaverse, guided by their team captains.
During this upcoming second test event, Otherdeed holders will enjoy exclusive access and have the opportunity to bring along a guest. Yuga Labs is actively working to broaden the accessibility of the event to gamers worldwide by expanding the list of supported countries.
In response to a Mailchimp data breach experienced by Yuga Labs in January, the company has taken measures to prevent scammers from taking advantage of the upcoming event. The link to the second test event will be shared exclusively through Yuga Labs’ official social media platforms and blog.
Having secured a substantial $450 million in funding last March through a funding round spearheaded by Andreessen Horowitz and other investors, Yuga Labs is on a mission to launch the Otherside metaverse. While their journey in the realm of NFTs and metaverse technologies has been immensely successful, Yuga Labs has also faced its fair share of controversies and legal challenges.
Most recently, Yuga Labs came to an amicable resolution with Thomas Lehman in a trademark infringement dispute related to the BAYC collection. Additionally, the company has been embroiled in allegations of intellectual property theft, with ten trademark applications facing opposition due to suspected copyright violations.
